How to Use this Site
Three Ways to Search:
- Enter the abbreviation to be defined (either upper or lower case; no spaces; no periods)
- Enter a drug name to identify its generic or trade name
- Enter a word, or the first word of a phrase, to search for an abbreviation for that word or the phrase beginning with that word
Search & Result Hints:
- Plural vs Singular: If a search for an abbreviation ending with an "s" produces no results, it may be the plural form of one that does exist. Try the search again but without the ending "s".
- Suggestions: If there are no results, if requested, we can research the meaning(s) of an abbreviation not listed. It is VERY important to provide the context in which it was used.
- Results Linking: Links on search results may either be internally crosslinked or go to Wikipedia. CLICK HERE to learn more.
- Icons: Search results may have an icon next to them. If you see an image (e.g., warning) before a description, simply hover over the icon to see an explanation.
ALERT: Drug name abbreviations and slang are shown for informational purposes only, and should not be used.
